Happy Leap Day! I figured this would be a great time release an EP. It’s called “Through the Caution and Danger”, featuring 3 tracks: ANTI, Forgot Yer Name and Kerouac. I have come to the conclusion that releasing EPs with 3-5 tracks is the way to go, instead of taking a long time sitting on trying to get an LP completed. Rough tracks have already been recorded for the next EP and there are some new songs that are waiting on to be polished before recording. You can download TTCAD EP from this link:

Hi all!

Its been ages since any updates. There have been a lot of changes in the past months: namely that Andalusian Dog is now a solo project. But! the good news is that there is an EP on the way! I was hoping to have it done before I go on vacation but alas I ran out of time. However, here is a sneak peak via the track “Kerouac”. Some of you might have heard the live version recording of this, so it might not be that new to you. You can download the track here:

We also did a basement show at The Burrow, hosted by the local DC music blog Static On The Wave It was a very enjoyable show…Very glad to have played out again; especially seeing the kids dance to our music..thanks guys..We’ll be putting up pictures from the show shortly.

Speaking of recording, we have enough material to record an entire LP, but there are thoughts that maybe we’re better off releasing a couple of EPs instead…we’ll see. We don’t wanna close this post without giving something out, so here’s a demo for our song “Colors Form” (download is enabled!)

Just want to share a few demos of our song “ANTI”. Ironically, the first time we played it live was probably the last time we played a gig. The live recording of the song was circulated among friends and proved to be pretty well received. So now, as me and Tony go forward with recording our next LP (maybe EP first?) we’ll probably release some early demos for your listening pleasure (we hope!)

There’s a certain deadline looming ahead that keeps us pretty productive– we have a semi-secret show by the end of March; and we really have to get all the drum tracks for the songs done and set up for live use. We’ll be using Ableton to trigger the drum loops via APC40 (still have to figure out how to set up the FCB1010 footswitch)

A few notes regarding these demos:
- the vocals were done under the cover of a bed comforter over my head and the vocal mic to reduce sound reflections. Now I do have a “ghetto vocal booth” but I wanted to see what the results would be like. It sounds (and definitely looks) ridiculous but for a demo track, the results are pretty good. So if you don’t have space for a vocal booth at home, think about the Bed Comforter technique!

- There’s two versions, one is with more acoustic drum kit (Abbey Road 70s drums) with minimal glitch effects…the other is a bass and glitch heavy version. Both with rough mixing done and pretty generic mastering preset treatment. I played the Bass heavy version in my car, and boy, it does rattle the side mirrors.

I added a few beats to it on Ableton Live and viola! a rough demo for a track that for right now I’m calling “The Bowl”. The guitars were all done in one take and there are a few missed notes, but overall I think this is a good building block for the final track. Still not sure if there’s going to be vocals, it could just be an instrumental in the middle of the next LP.

But, patience has to be observed since we still need to record and write new material that would work for this new set up we have going (duo).

Hence the mini shopping spree right now, acquiring gear that we would need for recording and eventually during live shows. Got a new Epiphone Thunderbird bass for recording demos but I think it should see action on stage as well..On order as well are the APC40 and Behringer FCB1010 foot controller to use with Ableton Live. Still have a few things to pick up, like studio monitors for mixing (probably getting the Rokit 5s) and M-Audio Fast Track Ultra as the soundcard for live usage (smaller than my Presonus Firestudio Project which we use for recording on the desktop)

It has been a quiet few months for us here in the Dog House (for a lack of a better term, at least its better than Dog Camp), and rest has been probably for the best. First, we are now officially a duo– me (Albert) and Tony; as we have lost our drummer Andrew who is now back in his home town of North Carolina. We have briefly discussed about finding a new drummer and we even put up an ad for a a few days before taking it down we eventually as we have both decided to go down the path of possibly using the computer for backbeats.

We figured that being down to just two members will force us to be more creative and free to try out new sounds that we haven’t really had the opportunity of exploring back when we were a “rock n’ roll” band. I personally have been playing the piano and synths more and messing around in Ableton Live, coming up with a few song ideas that I am really excited about finishing up and eventually playing live.

For now I guess we’ll keep working on our website and keep you updated. We promise to be more active online and setting up our website is going to be a major channel for that…
